how to have the conversation you’re dreading
This interactive mini-workshop explores how to enter into, manage and resolve the difficult conversations we tend to avoid. We investigate the different and less skillful ways one can tackle difficult conversations and offer a 3-part model for building the mindset of courageous conversations.
how to have the conversation you’re dreading
The session begins by investigating the ways we avoid courageously engaging with colleagues, clients and other stakeholders, from being overly ‘pleasing’, to approaches that value ‘winning’ over relating to others.
Then we look at alternative approaches that lean into the fundamentally human awkwardness of challenging conversations scenarios, from saying ‘no’, to giving feedback to others.
We propose a courageous approach that is empathetic, human and beneficial for all. Participants test out their personal scenarios in breakout rooms and are equipped to take their new mindset into business conversations straight away.
You’ll learn:
- Best practice for approaching difficult, or emotionally charged conversations
- Strategies for managing your state when communications get heated or nerve-wracking
- A fresh mindset that shifts difficult conversations into an important act of servant leadership
- How to reframe giving feedback, from being awkward, or negative, to helping to inspire human brilliance in others
“Great interactive workshop with a skilled and inspiring leader. You can get a lot of insights and having great fun at the same
