Maya Mehta is a leading capital markets lawyer globally co-ordinating Sustainable Finance across Legal at the investment bank, BNP Paribas.
Maya is a passionate advocate for Sustainable Finance and Social Intrapreneurship.
Maya has set up a number of incredible social impact initiatives including launching a ‘Social Impact Hub’ to encourage colleagues to lend their skills to support social enterprises. Alongside her career at the law firm Clifford Chance, where she spent 10 years, Maya launched a global microfinance group to help lift low-income individuals out of poverty and an advice surgery in Newham after being moved by the plight of Asian girls subjected to honour killings and forced marriages.
In Maya’s personal capacity, she co-hosts a series of events, ‘Putting The Soul Back Into Business’, exploring the personal journeys of individuals using business solutions to address social issues – and her inspirational work has not gone unnoticed. In 2014, Maya was named in Financial News Extra Mile 40 and two years later, she was listed in Brummell Magazine’s 30 ‘Ones to Watch’.
At her speech at our summit in the Houses of Parliament last year she summoned fellow Gamechangers to Start a Social Intrapreneur Hub!
She described how she has now integrated social and environmental impact into her career at the bank, thanks to the rise of Sustainable Finance and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
